Camino de Santiago Map: Way of St James Guide
The 800km St. James Way is a popular pilgrimage trek to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia (Northern Spain); where it is traditionally believed that the remains of the apostle Saint James are held.
In a world-first, New Zealand mapping company Geographx has created 3D maps of La Camino de Santiago or Way of St. James on plastic paper – pushing the potential of illustrated land relief and 3D visualization to new heights.
The La Camino de Santiago map is designed to assist those walking the Camino Francés from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela.
The English language maps which have subheadings in French & Spanish waterproof plastic paper incorporating highly UV resistant colours to prevent tearing and fading.
The maps have a 3D aerial view of the terrain using GIS (Geographic Information System) and include an accommodation guide and food recommendations.
The regularly updated maps have been successfully tested by pilgrims walking the Camino Frances in 2009.
